Product Details
The Boe-Bot® Robot Digital Encoder kit answers a long-standing customer request for position feedback used to improve dead-reckoning, solve mazes, contests and map paths of travel. The infrared reflective sensors mount next to the Boe-Bot Robot’s wheel to count cycles using the wheel holes. This is an add-on kit for the Parallax Boe-Bot Full Kit, which includes the newer wheels required for the Digital Encoders.
The Digital Encoder kit includes all the hardware you need to mount to your Boe-Bot Robot:
- (2) Reflective Sensors
- (2) Connecting Cable
- (2) #4-40 x 1/4" panhead machine screw
- (2) #4-40 Hex nut
- (2) 10K 1/4 W Resistors
- (2) Mounting plates
The real value of the Digital Encoder kit isn't in the hardware, though. It lies with the extensive application notes published to get you started with the kit. The "Applying Digital Encoders" document and the Boe-dar software program are two examples of how the Digital Encoders can be used with the Boe-Bot Robot.
