This kit uses a pre-programmed microcontroller that has been programmed to function as a 4 digit alarm clock and countdown timer. The digital clock keeps accurate time and displays hours and minutes with a blinking second indicator as well as an AM/PM LED indicator. Power for the clock is supplied by an included AC wall adapter. The clock has four display modes: Clock Mode, Alarm Set Mode, Countdown Set Mode, and Countdown Mode which can be accessed and set using push-button switches. The alarm can be set to any time of day or night and sounds a tone (and can be set to activate the relay) for one minute. The countdown timer has a maximum time of 12 hours 59 minutes and can be set for as little as one minute. After the countdown timer has elapsed, a loud tone will be emitted from the on board speaker for ten seconds or indefinitely (if latch is enabled) until the mode button is pushed. If the relay is enabled, a set of DPDT 1/2Amp relay contacts will operate (which can be used to turn on or off devices of your choice) during the time the tone is being produced. The countdown timer can be used independently of the clock. There is also a DIP switch that controls Alarm Enable, Speaker Enable, Relay Enable, and Latch Enable allowing you to have control over many different parameters for the alarm and countdown timer so that you can utilize the kit to best suit your needs. This kit includes an introduction of microcontrollers and embedded systems.
